This site does three things. It lists electricians working on Staten Island so a homeowner can find one. It explains how electrician licensing works in New York City, which is genuinely confusing and badly covered everywhere else. And it tracks the code and rule changes that affect both.
electriciansiny.com is run by FrankyProjects. It is not run by an electrician, and nothing on this site is written as though it were. Where a page states a fact about licensing, permits, fees or code, that fact is sourced to a nyc.gov or ny.gov page, linked at the point it is used, and carries the date it was last checked. If a number is not in the source, it is not on the page.
One electrician is featured on this site: Premier Electrical Contractors Inc. They are an existing FrankyProjects client. They appear first on the home page and on the service and neighborhood pages they cover, and theirs is the only outbound website link anywhere on this site.
Every other firm is listed for reference, with a name, a phone number, an address and the work they do. Being featured means paying for a website built by FrankyProjects. It does not mean being better than anyone else here, and this site does not say otherwise. There is no "top rated", no ranking, and no badge that implies one.
Listings are entered by hand from public information. There is no scraper and no automatic import, which is slower and gets the data right.
This site does not publish a licence status for any firm, and it never will. The city's licensee data carries a status field that lags behind reality, and firms that are trading normally can appear in it as though they are not. Printing that next to a business name would be unfair and wrong. For the same reason there are no warning badges, no "verified" checkmarks, and nothing implying that a firm without a marker is a risk.
This site also does not attribute Department of Buildings or Environmental Control Board violations to any electrician. On an electrical work without a permit citation the respondent is the property owner, not the contractor, and treating those records as a contractor's record would be a straightforward error.
If a listing is wrong, out of date, or should not be here, it gets fixed or removed. If a sourced fact has gone stale because a rule or a fee changed, that gets fixed too. Every factual page carries a last checked date so you can see how old the answer is.
